TYPES OF AFRICAN PRINTS
Ghana is known to be one of the leading countries in the production of fabric prints. The two main companies that produce fabrics are Ghana Textiles Printers (GTP) and Akosombo Textiles Limited (ATL).The fabrics produced in Ghana have local names .”Yaw Donkor” , “ Ama Serwaa “ and many others. it’s easy to see fingers, elephants, birds, cutlass and many more. One of the patterns in Ghana is “ Sika Wo Antaban “,it means money has wings and indeed money flies to wherever it wants to go. One might lose the money if he or she does handle it well. Another African print is “Nsubra” which means “well”(well water). The tiny dots in form of a spiral, resemble the form made when water is fetched from the well .
